Welcome to Churchill Refined 12, our parred down version of Churchill 20. All that means is that we’ve wrapped it up for smaller groups, so this way, 6 ensuite bedrooms sleep 12 but nothing else changes. All yours and only yours are a very striking spa hall with a pool, hot tub and sauna, a well-equipped games room, a movie room, an immense open plan living/entertaining space, outdoor space front and back, and a children’s play area.
Here’s where old meets new, where indoors meets outdoors. Folded into the contemporary design are centuries old farm buildings, full height windows in the living space give breathtaking views of the endless Somerset countryside. This is an enormous slice of country life with heaps of luxury – all the creature comforts you could possibly need, peace and quiet. It’s a dream.
So in you go, through the courtyard and the glass fronted lobby to that vast living/entertaining space. At the far end is a kitchen that takes any stress out of self-catering, at the other end you can sit comfy on lush velvet sofas. In the middle a long dining table sets the scene for happy celebrations feasts; those floor to ceiling doors take full advantage of the natural light and the glorious views. Idle the hours away out on the balcony where there’s a BBQ and pizza oven; stay out late, watch the sun sink slowly over the far horizon.
On the lower level there’s a movie room with an entire wall for projection. Next door is the games room where you can call a challenge of table tennis, air hockey, table football or pool. Bar style seating and a kitchenette add to the relaxed vibe.
And the snooze space? All have ensuites (see Rooms for details), Bedrooms 1-3 and 6 are on the ground floor, Bedrooms 4 and 5 are on the first floor. All have zip and link beds (super king or twin), extra guest beds are available for Rooms 1-4 (charged per person – see Extras).
The ground floor also has a kitchen and utility area that works well for private caterers (a great idea for birthday celebrations – see Extras). And as if the wow factor wasn’t already riding high, here’s where it hits the roof – the spa hall. What a space! Heated pool in the middle, ground level hot tub to one end, sauna to the side. Up above are the centuries old pegged elm beams that stood here when this was just a wagon shed.
